David Henshaw

David Henshaw studied art at Mansfield School of Art. After National Service in the RAF, he gained a teaching diploma at Leicester College of Art in1955. He taught first in Nottinghamshire and then in 1966 was appointed Head of Art Department at a new comprehensive school in Sunderland. Early retirement from the teaching profession n 1981 meant that he was able to enjoy life as a freelance illustrator. The North East of England has been the subject of much of his work. Other illustrations were done on holiday in this country and abroad mainly France. He has undertaken a number of commissions adding a great deal of variety to his portfolio.
